- What I Drive
- 2018 G90:Ultimate
I purchased my Genesis G90 ultimate 5.0 AWD about a year and a half ago, and it’s my second Genesis, having Leased a G80 about six years ago and even still I am still discovering features,, I had a similar experience with the four other Korean cars that I’ve owned, because they give you all what the competitors offer and usually about $10,000- $20,000 less money out of your pocket to own one.
This one that I purchased from a dealer in Holland Michigan only had 12,000 miles on it, you read that right, a seven-year-old car with 12,000 miles and I paid a premium price for it. I don’t really have a strong reason to doubt the veracity of the story, which goes as follows; the person who bought it new died shortly afterwards and the family kept it for several years without driving it much, for sentimental reasons and then finally decided to sell it back to the dealer their father had it bought from new seven years earlier. I did my due diligence research (I’ve been in the car business for almost 50 years). To say I’m happy with this car what with its solid powerful feel and quiet interior would be an understatement. I like it even more than the G8 that I had previously leased. The thing that mystified me about this car and I wish I had noticed it before I took delivery was scratches on the passenger’s window in the front seat and also scratches on both sides below the front door handles, which I corrected to some degree, also in the driver seat where you pull the seatbelt over into its receptacle between the right edge of the seat bolster and the trim around the side of the center council was well worn and if I’m being honest, that gave me pause. The car runs and looks brand new other than that. I’ve done a few upgrades such as window tinting, and I replaced the glass on the front passengers door, the price was over $1200, $500 of it being labor at $260 an hour for two hours (here in Florida-go figure lol)
which I thought was exorbitant, not to mention the window itself which was over $500. I still get a thrill every time I drive the car, especially when I mash that gas pedal of that 420 HP V-8 way more often than I should, I’ll be 78 years old in June and I still love the thrill. I’m also curious if anybody else can tell me that thier brake paddle travels, what seems to me like too much?
If anybody would like to comment on the concerns that I had regarding any of my comments above mentioned/concerns,I would love to hear from you.
